Most recently, the family has been restricted again to include only the reduced-limbed species, as it was the consensus prior to 1987 (e.g., Han, Zhou & Bauer 2004; Pyron, Burbrink & Wiens 2013). Distribution:  Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea.
