Biodiversity of the family Pygopodidae Bibliography of the family Pygopodidae

Pygopodidae

Flap-footed Lizards
Flossenfüsse     Finnefødder

Contents: Endemicity:
7 genera of which 6 (85.7%) are endemic  0% 100%
48 species of which 46 (95.8%) are endemic  0% 100%

Remarks: It has been suggested to include some gecko genera in Pygopodidae (e.g., Kluge 1987) or to include the the flap-footed lizards in the family Diplodactylidae. Most recently, the family has been restricted again to include only the reduced-limbed species, as it was the consensus prior to 1987 (e.g., Han, Zhou & Bauer 2004; Pyron, Burbrink & Wiens 2013).

Distribution:  Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea.
