1830 Trogonophis Kaup (type species: Trogonophis wiegmanni Kaup 1830)

Contents: 2 species, of which 1 (50.0%) is endemic.
Endemism: 0% 100%
Remarks: Previously considered a monotypic genus, including only wiegmanni. Gans (2005) revalidated elegans as a separate species, but without discussion. Salvi, Perera, Sampaio, Carranza & Harris (2018) found three main lineages within the genus, but further studies are needed to establish the taxonomic status of these. Pending further studies, Gans (2005) is provisionally followed herein.
Distribution: Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia.
