Chironex fleckeri Box Jellyfish Preserved specimen. The only venomous animal that kan kill a human in 2-3 minutes. Stings cause extreme pain but not all are fatal. Found in northern Australian waters, mainly between October and May. The photo has been slightly manipulated to remove a disturbing background. Chiropsella bart "Chiropsalmus" Jellyfish Preserved specimen. Not as large as the box jellyfish (Chironex fleckeri), but can give a painful sting. Found on the west side of the Gulf of Carpentaria from about May to July. The photo has been slightly manipulated to remove a disturbing background. Gerongia rifkinae Darwin Charybdeid Preserved specimen. A recently described jellyfish found in Darwin harbour in the wet season. Its sting is painful but not life threatening.
