Omitted by most works since its description, thus remaining in obscurity for many years, until revalidation by Das, Dattagupta & Gayen (1998). However, all previous assumptions concerning the identity of Coluber vittacaudatus are questionable, the collector is unknown, and the holotype has not been located (Deepak, Narayanan, Mohapatra, Dutta, Melvinselvan, Khan, Mahlow & Tillack 2021). Distribution: India (West Bengal).
