Reported from: Australia (New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia), East Timor (incl. Atauro Island), Indonesia (Banda Islands, Besar, Damar, Flores, Groot-Bastaard, Komodo, Padar, Semau, Sukur, Sumba, West Timor, Western New Guinea, Wetar), Papua New Guinea (Eastern New Guinea).

Remarks: Although reported from Victoria (e.g., Cogger 1996 [as fasciolatus]; Littlejohn & Rawlinson 1971 [as fasciolatus]), there are no confirmed records from the state, although it may occur in the northwest (Mecke, Doughty & Donnellan 2013).
