1879 Leiopython Hubrecht (type species: Leiopython gracilis Hubrecht 1879)
Contents: 2 species, of which none are endemic.
Endemism: 0% 100%
Remarks: Regarded as a synonym of Morelia by Underwood & Stimson (1990). Revalidated as a separate genus by Kluge (1993), but subsequently synonymized with Bothrochilus (Reynolds, Niemiller & Revell 2014). Retained as a valid genus herein, following Schleip (2014) and Natusch, Esquerré, Lyons, Hamidy, Lemmon, Lemmon, Riyanto, Keogh & Donnellan (2021).
Distribution: Australia (Queensland [incl. Torres Strait Islands]), Indonesia (Biak, Salawati, Waigeo, Western New Guinea), Papua New Guinea (Bismarck Archipelago [Duke of York, Mussau, New Britain, New Ireland, Umboi], d'Entrecasteaux Islands [Normanby], Eastern New Guinea, North Solomon Islands).

Distribution: Indonesia (Biak, Salawati, Waigeo, Western New Guinea), Papua New Guinea (Bismarck Archipelago [Mussau], d'Entrecasteaux Islands [Normanby], Eastern New Guinea).
