Remarks: Previously regarded as a synonym of Melwardia (now Simoselaps) (e.g., Worrell 1963), of Vermicella (e.g., Glauert 1950) or, more recently, of Simoselaps (e.g., Cogger 1992; Wallach, Williams & Boundy 2014). Considered a valid genus in most recent works (e.g., Aplin & Smith 2001; Storr, Smith & Johnstone 2002; Hutchinson 2010; Wilson & Swan 2010; Cogger 1975, 2014). Previously included Narophis).
Distribution: As for the single species.
