Remarks:
Already Torres-Carvajal, Lobos, Venegas, Chávez, Aguirre-Peñafiel, Zurita & Echevarría (2016), noted that this species did not belong in the genus Echinosaura,
however, they did not reassign it to any other genus.
This was done subsequently, when Vásquez-Restrepo, Ibáñez, Sánchez-Pacheco & Daza (2019) named the genus Rheosaurus.
