Remarks: The exact type locality of this species is unclear. Contrary to previous belief, O'Shea, Blum & Kaiser (2020) documented that it is most likely further up the Setekwa River at a higher altitude than implied by the map.

Other common names:
pratti: (Pratt's Snake)
Remarks: Now restricted to the southeastern Papua New Guinea. Previously included lamingtoni, lönnbergi, nymanni, and the populations now assigned to atratus, mattisoni, nigrescens, spilorhynchus, and vertebralis. Records from Fergusson Island (d'Entrecasteaux Islands) represent nigrescens. This may also be the case for records from Normanby Island (d'Entrecasteaux Islands), but this needs verification (Kraus 2017; Kraus, Kaiser & O'Shea 2022).
