Remarks:
Taxonomic status uncertain.
Revalidated as a separate species by Trépanier & Murphy (2001), who also stated that this taxon appears to contain two species.
This subsequently led to the description of thurmanae.
Gottscho, Wood, Vandergast, Lemos-Espinal, Gatesy & Reeder (2017) considered rufopunctata to be a hybrid population (notata X cowlesi),
but retained it in their distribution map, as did Derycke, Gottscho, Mulcahy & Queiroz (2020).
