1844 Cadea Gray (type species: Amphisbaena punctata Bell 1827)

Contents: 2 species, both of which are endemic.
Endemism: 0% 100%
Remarks: Previously included in the family Amphisbaenidae. Regarded as a synonym of Amphisbaena by Powell, Henderson, Adler & Dundee (1996), but as a valid genus by other authors (e.g., Kearney 2003; Gans 2005). Hedges & Vidal (in Hedges & Kumar 2009) placed Cadea in a separate family, Cadeidae, containing only the genus Cadea. This has been followed in most works since (e.g., Mott & Vieites 2009).
Distribution: Cuba (incl. Isla de la Juventud).
