Remarks:
Six subspecies (triangularis, bassleri, bolivianus, fasciata, neglectus, venezuelensis) were previously recognized, but Albuquerque & Lema (2008) presented evidence that none of them should be considered valid. A record from Piaui (Yuki 2007) was from a locality actually situated in Maranhao (Albuquerque & Lema 2008). A record from Mato Grosso do Sul (Albuquerque 2001) refers to caesurus, a species described subsequently (Albuquerque & Lema 2008).
