Reynolds, Niemiller, Hedges, Dornburg, Puente-Rolón & Revell (2013) did not include granti in their study and consequently, made no conclusion regarding the status of this form. However, also Rodríguez-Robles, Jezkova, Fujita, Tolson & García (2015) recognized granti as a separate species.
