Considered endemic to southeastern Brazil by Martins (2010), but other authors have reported the species from several other countries, such as Colombia, Ecuador (e.g., Torres-Carvajal, Pazmiño-Otamendi & Salazar-Valenzuela 2019), Surinam, and more northerly states in Brazil (Para, Paraiba).
