Remarks: Only known from its original description. Previously regarded as a tentative synonym of Emoia atrocostata (Brown 1991), but according to G.M. Shea (quoted by the Reptile Database; viewed 1 June 2017) it does not even belong in the genus Emoia. It is herein placed in the genus Papuascincus, following Allison & Greer (1986).
Distribution: Papua New Guinea (Eastern New Guinea).

Remarks: This species is known only from the type specimens and nothing is known about their distribution or ecology other than they are from New Guinea, probably the Sepik Basin in northwest Papua New Guinea (Tallowin, Allison & Shea 2015).
