1899 Lygosoma arundelii Garman (Ineich & Zug 1991)
1987 Emoia pheonura Ineich (Ineich & Zug 1991)

Remarks: Previously confused with impar, which was revalidated as a distinct, sibling species by Ineich (1987). Both species are widespread in the Pacific, so older records of cyanura may refer to impar. Records from Kapingamarangi Atoll (Federates States of Micronesia) (e.g., Niering 1963) refer to impar (Buden 1998). Older records from New Ireland (Papua New Guinea) (e.g., Hediger 1934; Mys 1988) may refer to impar (Allison & Bigilale 2001). However, Ineich (2009) proposed a different view on the cyanura-impar taxonomy. The introduced population in Hawaii (Kauai) is now extirpated (Zug 2013). Now restricted to the Pacific region, from the Bismarck Archipelago and eastwards (Koch, Arida, Riyanto & Böhme 2009). Records from Indonesia (e.g., Brongersma in Dammerman 1929; Whitten & McCarthy 1993) refer to other species (e.g., caeruleocauda).
Introduced to: New Zealand, Pitcairn Islands, USA (Hawaii).
Distribution: American Samoa, Clipperton, Cook Islands (incl. Rarotonga), Fiji (incl. Rotuma), French Polynesia, Guam, Howland & Baker, Kiribati, Marshall Islands (incl. Arno Atoll), Micronesia (incl. Pohnpei), Midway Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia (incl. Loyalty Islands), Niue, Northern Mariana Islands, Papua New Guinea (Bismarck Archipelago [Admiralty Islands (Manus), New Britain], North Solomon Islands [Bougainville]), Philippines (Miangas), Solomon Islands (incl. Guadalcanal, Santa Cruz Islands), Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu (incl. Espiritu Santo), Wake, Wallis & Futuna, Western Samoa.

1901 Lygosoma cyanurum var. schauinslandi Werner (Ineich & Zug 1991)
1936 Mabuya deserticola Dunn (Ineich & Zug 1991)

Remarks: Previously confused with cyanura, of which it has been regarded as a synonym (e.g., Brown 1991). Revalidated by Ineich (1987) and Ineich & Zug (1991). Both species are widespread in the Pacific, but older records of cyanura should therefore be used with caution, as they may refer to either of the two species. However, Ineich (2009) proposed a different view on the cyanura-impar taxonomy. The Hawaiian population (which might have been introduced) may have become extinct, probably as the result of the presence of an invasive ant (Zug 2013).
Distribution: American Samoa, Cook Islands (incl. Rarotonga), Fiji, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands (incl. Arno Atoll), Micronesia (incl. Pohnpei [incl. Ant Atoll]), Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea (Bismarck Archipelago [New Britain, New Ireland], North Solomon Islands [Bougainville]), Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, USA (Hawaii), Vanuatu (incl.
