Previously included the populations now assigned to the genus
Sarada.
Deepak & Karanth (2018) showed that there are several undescribed species in the genus, but further studies are needed.

Schleich, Kästle & Sah (1998) noted that ponticeriana is a species complex of which many new species have subsequently been described.
Although previously included in the fauna of Nepal (e.g., Wermuth 1967; Das 1996), there are still no confirmed records from the country
(Schleich, Kästle & Shah 1998).
