Remarks:
Previously regarded as a synonym of nuchale (e.g., Lieb 1988). Revalidated as a separate species by McCranie (2011). Cadle & Savage (2012) subsequently split nuchale into two different species, nuchale (in restricted sense) and rufiterminorum. Older records from Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and some from Costa Rica, refer to rufiterminorum.
