Remarks: Previously regarded as a subspecies of tessellata (e.g., Broadley 1972, Branch 1988). Now restricted to inland karroid habitats of South Africa. Earlier records from the West Coast refer to tessellata. Records from Port Elizabeth and Cape Town are questionable (Conradie, Busschau & Jordaan 2020).
Distribution: South Africa (Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Western Cape).
