Contents: 6 species, of which 5 (83.3%) are endemic.
Endemism: 0% 100%
Remarks: The species of this genus were previously included in Cnemidophorus. This generic taxonomic arrangement was considered unwarranted by Giugliano, Nogueira, Valdujo, Collevatti & Colli (2013). Validity of Contomastix supported by Tucker, Colli, Giugliano, Hedges, Hendry, Lemmon, Lemmon, Sites & Pyron (2016).
Distribution: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil (Parana, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina), Uruguay.
