Remarks: Rivas, Quintana, Mancuso, Pacheco, Rivas, Mariotto, Salazar-Valenzuela, Baihua, Baihua, Burghardt, Vonk, Hernandez, García-Pérez, Fry & Corey-Rivas (2024) regarded beniensis as a synonym of notaeus, however, this was refuted by Dubois, Denzer, Entiauspe-Neto, Frétey, Ohler, Bauer & Pyron (2024).

Remarks: The single record from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, may represent a snake which had been transported from Argentina by the Uruguay River (Dirksen 2001).
