1843 Lophosaurus Fitzinger [substitute name for Tiaris Dumeril & Bibron 1837]
Contents: 3 species, of which 2 (66.7%) are endemic.
Endemism: 0% 100%
Remarks: Previously included in the genus Gonocephalus (e.g., Wermuth 1967) or, more recently, in the genus Hypsilurus (e.g., Manthey & Denzer 2006). Revalidated as a separate genus by Denzer & Manthey (2016).
Distribution: Australia (New South Wales, Queensland), Indonesia (Aru Islands, Batanta, Kai Islands, Numfoor, Salawati, Waigeo, Western New Guinea, Yapen), Papua New Guinea (d'Entrecasteaux Islands [Fergusson, Normanby], Eastern New Guinea).
