Remarks: Previously included rudolfensis. Some authors regard zolii as a subspecies of intermedius (e.g., Lanza 1990). Egyptian records (e.g., Marx 1968) refer to zolii (Baha el Din 2006).

Remarks: Reports from West Africa, i.e., Mali (e.g., Joger & Lambert 1996; Papenfuss 1969) and Niger (e.g., Bischoff 1991) refer to zolii (Trape, Trape & Chirio 2012).

Remarks: Lanza (1990) listed zolii as a subspecies of intermedius, but indicated that it is probably a separate species. Often misspelled zolli. Reports from Algeria (as lhotei, e.g., Welch 1982; Bischoff 1991) are erroneous (Sindaco & Jeremchenko 2008).
