Heterodon gloydi

|
Texas-Hakennasennatter
|
|
Texas-trynesnog
|
1952 | |
Heterodon nasicus gloydi Edgren |
| |
Heterodon gloydi Werler & Dixon 2000 |
Remarks:
Werler & Dixon (2000) regarded gloydi as a separate species, followed by several authors (e.g., Crother (ed.) 2008, 2012; Ballinger, Lynch & Smith 2010), however, Smith, Chiszar, Eckerman & Walley (2003), followed by Dixon (2013), retained it under nasicus, although suggesting it might be valid. In spite of having been reported from other states, gloydi is herein considered restricted to eastern Texas, following Werler & Dixon (2000) and Smith, Chiszar, Eckerman & Walley (2003). A record of gloydi from Arkansas (Means 1976; repeated by Vance 1985), subsequently proved to be a platirhinos (Irwin 2001).
Distribution:
USA
(Texas).

Remarks:
Revalidated as a separate species by Smith, Chiszar, Eckerman & Walley (2003), although still retained as a subspecies of nasicus by some authors (e.g., Brennan & Holycross 2006 [by implication]).
