Remarks:
Seidel, Iverson & Adkins (1986) included Sternotherus in
Kinosternon, which has been folowed by some
(e.g., Bonin, Devaux & Dupre 2006), but most subsequent publications have retained Sternotherus as a valid genus (e.g., Scott, Glenn & Rissler 2018).
