Contents:
  8 species of which 5 (62.5%) are endemic - 4 genera of which 1 (25.0%) is endemic (as of December 31st, 2018).

Remarks:  Previously considered a subfamily (Trogonophinae) of Amphisbaenidae (e.g., Vanzolini 1951; Gans 1960), but now recognized as a separate family (e.g., Gans 1967).

Distribution:  NW. and E. Africa, Middle East.
