Remarks: Now restricted to South America. Previously included bocourti, bolivianus, coeruleodorsus, liocercus, marginatus, nigromarginatus, occidentalis, praestans, and urostictus. Records from Trinidad & Tobago refer to coeruleodorsus and stimsoni (Murphy, Charles, Lehtinen & Koeller 2013). Records from Guerrero (e.g., Smith & Taylor 1945; Pérez-Ramos, Riva & Uribe-Peña 2000) refer to diplotropis (Palacios-Aguilar & Flores-Villela 2018).
Distribution: Brazil (Amapa, Amazonas, Goias, Maranhao, Mato Grosso, Para [incl. Marajo Island], Piaui, Rondonia, Roraima, Tocantins), Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Surinam, Venezuela.
