Remarks: Frost (1992) proposed that Uracentron should be regarded as a synonym of Tropidurus. This proposal has not been adopted generally (e.g., Avila-Pires 1995), and he later reversed the arrangement (Frost, Rodrigues, Grant & Titus 2001).
Distribution: N. South America.

Remarks: Includes three subspecies (azureum, guentheri, werneri) previously regarded as separate species. A single specimen has been recorded from Pernambuco, northeastern Brazil, but its presence there needs confirmation (Avila-Pires 1995). Correct publication year of the original description of guentheri is 1895, not 1894 (Costa & Bérnils 2015).
