Kladirostratus acutus

Eastern Striped Beaked Snake, Southern Striped Beaked Snake

Spitze Schnabelnasennatter

Østlig Stribet Næbsnog

1888 Psammophis acutus Günther
Rhamphiophis acutus Boulenger 1896
Rhamnophis acutus Hellmich 1957
Psammophylax acutus Kelly, Barker, Villet, Broadley & Branch 2008
Kladirostratus acutus Keates, Conradie, Greenbaum & Edwards 2019

Psammophylax acutus jappi Kelly, Barker, Villet, Broadley & Branch 2008
Kladirostratus acutus jappi Keates, Conradie, Greenbaum & Edwards 2019

Remarks: Previously included togoensis, to which species records from West Africa refer. Wallach, Williams & Boundy (2014) mistakenly placed acutus in the genus Psammophis, noting that it had been assigned to that genus by Kelly, Barker, Villet, Broadley & Branch (2008), but in fact, these authors assigned the species to the genus Psammophylax.
Distribution: Angola, Burundi, Congo-Brazzaville, Congo-Kinshasa, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia.

Kladirostratus togoensis

Western Striped Beaked Snake, Togo Beaked Snake, Northern Sharp-nosed Beaked Snake

Vestlig Stribet Næbsnog

Psammophylax togoensis Segniagbeto, Trape, David, Ohler, Dubois & Glitho 2011
Kladirostratus togoensis Keates, Conradie, Greenbaum & Edwards 2019

Remarks: Previously regarded as a subspecies of acutus (e.g., Chirio & Ineich 1991; Kelly, Barker, Villet, Broadley & Branch 2008), but treated here as a separate species, following recent works (e.g., Chirio & LeBreton 2007, Segniagbeto, Trape, David, Ohler, Dubois & Glitho 2011; Wallach, Williams & Boundy 2014). Validity confirmed by Keates, Conradie, Greenbaum & Edwards (2019).
Distribution: Cameroon, Congo-Kinshasa, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, South Sudan, Togo, Uganda.
