Currently considered monotypic (Wagner 1975; David, Cox, Pauwels, Chanhome & Thirakhupt 2004), although swinhonis was previously regarded as a valid subspecies (e.g., Taylor 1965).
However, pallidocinctus has recently been considered valid (Luu, Nguyen, Pham, Dang, Vu, Miskovic, Bonkowski & Ziegler 2013).
Some Thai records of swinhonis (e.g., Taylor 1965) refer to joynsoni (David, Das & Vogel 2011).

Remarks:
Now restricted to Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, and India (David, Vogel & Pauwels 2008; Mitra 2009; David, Das & Vogel 2011).
Previously included dorsolateralis, kheriensis, smithi, and superfluens.
The two former are now considered separate species, whereas the two latter forms are regarded as synonyms of fasciolatus.
Records from China refer to fasciolatus (Zhang, Jang, Li, Hou & Rao 2011).
Although cyclurus, according to David, Cox, Pauwels, Chanhome & Thirakhupt (2004), is restricted to Bangladesh, India, and Burma
(subsequently recorded also in Bhutan), they nevertheless listed the species in their checklist of snakes found in Thailand, presumably either
representing dorsolateralis, which they considered a synonym of cyclurus, or based on the invalid designation of a neotype from Bangkok by
Campden-Main (1970), which was discussed by David, Das & Vogel (2011), who also designated a new neotype, thus correcting Campden-Main's error.
Distribution:
Bangladesh,
Bhutan,
India
(Bihar,
Himachal Pradesh,
Meghalaya,
Mizoram,
West Bengal),
Myanmar.

or of fasciolatus (e.g., Wallach, Williams & Boundy 2014).

who did not list eberhardti as a Chinese species).

Records of quadrilineatus from Burma (Zug, Win, Thin, Min, Lhon & Kyaw 1998; Qian, Qi, Shi, Lu, Jenkins, Mo & Li 2021) refer to theobaldi (David, Vogel & Rooijen 2008).
Records from China represent multifasciatus (formerly cinereus, e.g., Zhang, Jang, Li, Hou & Rao 2011).

Remarks:
Previously regarded as a population of arnensis (Bandara, Ganesh, Kanishka, Danushka, Sharma, Campbell, Ineich, Vogel & Amarasinghe 2022).
Records of arnensis from Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, and western Madhya Pradesh are provisionally assigned to tillacki, based on the map in
Bandara, Ganesh, Kanishka, Danushka, Sharma, Campbell, Ineich, Vogel & Amarasinghe (2022), although the authors do not list any confirmed records from these states.
Records of arnensis from Afghanistan and Pakistan need further studies, but some may refer to tillacki.

Oligodon vertebralis Boulenger 1894 |
Remarks:
Previously included notospilus. Records from the Philippines refer to notospilus. Das & Yaakob (2007) listed vertebralis for West Malaysia, but not for Sabah, which apparently must have been in error, since the first author later regarded the species to be endemic to Borneo (Das 2010), and since no other works have reported the species from West Malaysia.
Distribution:
Indonesia

Malaysia
(Sabah,

Remarks:
Previously included the populations now assigned to propinquus and tolaki (Amarasinghe, Henkanaththegedara, Campbell, Riyanto, Hallermann & Vogel 2021).
Taxonomic status of records from Sanana, Sula Islands (e.g., Kopstein 1927; Haas 1950; Bosch 1985; Iskandar & Colijn 2001; Koch 2012; Lang 2013), is unclear.
This population was not mentioned by Amarasinghe, Henkanaththegedara, Campbell, Riyanto, Hallermann & Vogel (2021).
Records from Kabaena, Buton, and presumably Muna refer to tolaki.
Distribution:
Indonesia
(Sula Islands
