1989 Cyclemys tiannanensis Kou (Fritz, Guicking, Auer, Sommer, Wink & Hundsdörfer 2008)

Other common names:
tcheponensis: Indochinese Leaf Turtle, Northern Stripe-necked Leaf Turtle
Remarks: Some authors regard tcheponensis as a valid species (e.g., Nabhitabhata, Chan-ard & Chuaynkern 2004; Nguyen, Ho & Nguyen 2009; Teynié & David 2010). The description of tiannanensis was most probably based on a pet trade turtle. Therefore, the type locality, which is in Yunnan (China), is most likely wrong (Fritz, Gaulke & Lehr 1997). Although sold from food markets in China (Yunnan and possibly Guangxi), no species of the genus Cyclemys has been recorded in the wild from China (Lau & Shi 2000; Fritz, Guicking, Auer, Sommer, Wink & Hundsdörfer 2008).
Distribution: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam.
