Remarks: Now restricted to Lesotho, South Africa and Eswatini (Broadley & Broadley 1999). Previously included incognitus and lepezi. Regarded as a subspecies of scutifrons by Broadley & Broadley (1999). Revalidated as a separate species by Adalsteinsson, Branch, Trape, Vitt & Hedges (2009).
Distribution: Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa (Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga).

Remarks: Previously regarded as a synonym of nigricans (e.g., Broadley & Watson 1976). Revalidated by Meirte (1992) and Broadley & Wallach (1996). Previously included pembae (e.g., McDiarmid, Campbell & Touré 1999). Records from Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Zaire (e.g., Broadley 1998; Spawls, Howell, Drewes & Ashe 2002) refer to other species (see Broadley & Wallach 2007).
Distribution: Congo-Kinshasa, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia.

Remarks: Old records from Namibia are now assigned to scutifrons (Broadley & Broadley 1999), however, the species may be present in eastern Caprivi (Griffin 2003).

Remarks: Previously regarded as a subspecies of conjunctus (e.g., Hahn 1980). Treated as a separate species herein, following Broadley (1998) and Trape (2023). Hahn's (1980) record from Zambia is regarded as erroneous, probably based on confusion with the type locality, Zambi, Congo-Kinshasa. The species was not listed for Zambia by Pietersen, Verburght & Davies (2021).
Distribution: Congo-Kinshasa.
