Gerrhosaurus bulsi Laurent 1964
1960 Gerrhosaurus nigrolineatus anselli Broadley (Broadley & Cotterill 2004)

Remarks: Erroneously treated as a synonym of multilineatus of western Angola, a poorly known form still under investigation (Broadley & Cotterill 2004; Bates, Tolley, Edwards, Davids, Silva & Branch 2013).
Distribution: Angola, Congo-Kinshasa, Zambia.

Gerrhosaurus intermedius

Eastern Black-lined Plated Lizard

Östliche Schwarzstreifen-Schildechse

Østlig Sortstribet Pladeøgle, Stribet Pladeøgle

1907 Gerrhosaurus flavigularis intermedia Lönnberg
Gerrhosaurus intermedius Bates, Tolley, Edwards, Davids, Silva & Branch 2013

Remarks: Previously regarded as a synonym of nigrolineatus (e.g., Loveridge 1942; Wermuth 1968). Revalidated as a separate species by Bates, Tolley, Edwards, Davids, Silva & Branch (2013). Consists of the populations which used to be regarded as the eastern and southern populations of nigrolineatus, however, the exact species boundary between intermedius and nigrolineatus in Angola, Botswana, Congo-Kinshasa, Namibia, and Zambia, still needs to be determined (Bates, Tolley, Edwards, Davids, Silva & Branch 2013). These populations are here provisionally retained as nigrolineatus.
Distribution: Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa (Limpopo, Mpumalanga), Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Gerrhosaurus multilineatus

Many-lined Plated Lizard, Kwanza Keeled Plated Lizard

Vielstreifen-Schildechse

Mangestribet Pladeøgle

1866 Gerrhosaurus multilineatus Bocage

Remarks: Status uncertain. Regarded as a synonym of nigrolineatus in some works (e.g., Boulenger 1887; Wermuth 1968). Broadley (1999) noted that the taxon Gerrhosaurus multilineatus Bocage 1866 is based on a hybrid specimen and therefore considered the name unavailable, which, however, it is not, even if based on a hybrid (Bates, Tolley, Edwards, Davids, Silva & Branch 2013). See the latter authors for further notes on the status of multilineatus.
Distribution: Angola.

Gerrhosaurus nigrolineatus

Western Black-lined Plated Lizard, Lesser Plated Lizard, Gabon Plated Lizard

1939 Gerrhosaurus nigrolineatus australis Fitzsimons
1956 Gerrhosaurus nigrolineatus ahlefeldti Hellmich & Schmelcher

Remarks: Previously included intermedius. The exact species boundaries between intermedius and nigrolineatus in Angola, Botswana, Congo-Kinshasa, Namibia and Zambia still need to be determined (Bates, Tolley, Edwards, Davids, Silva & Branch 2013). These populations are here provisionally retained as nigrolineatus.
Introduced to: United Arab Emirates.
Distribution: Angola (incl. Cabinda), Congo-Brazzaville, Congo-Kinshasa, Gabon, Zambia.
