Latastia carinata Boulenger 1887 |
1917 | |
Latastia ventralis Werner [status uncertain] (Mazuch 2021) |
1938 | |
Latastia petersiana Mertens [substitute name for Lacerta carinata Peters 1874] |
Remarks:
Although Mertens (1938) showed that Lacerta carinata Peters 1874 is a junior homonym of Lacerta carinata Schinz 1834, and therefore unavailable,
the species has nevertheless been referred to as Latastia carinata in many subsequent works (e.g., Lanza 1990).
Latastia petersiana is herein regarded as the valid name for this species, following Mertens (1938), Bischoff (1998), and Mazuch (2021).
Now restricted to Somalia (Mazuch 2021).
Previously included the subspecies caeruleopunctata, now considered a separate species.
Records of carinata from Jaldessa, Ethiopia, (Neumann 1905; Tornier 1905) most likely represent caeruleopunctata, and they are herein provisionally regarded as such.
Distribution:
Somalia.

|
|
Siebenrocks Langhalefirben
|
1905 | |
Eremias siebenrocki Tornier |
| |
Latastia siebenrocki Bauer & Günther 1995 |
Remarks:
Status uncertain (Trape 2013).
Known only from the holotype.
Type locality is Porto Novo in Benin, however it has not been relocated in surveys of this site (Trape 2013).
It has been proposed that it may be synonymous with an East African species, putting the reliability of the West African locality in doubt (Trape 2013).
Not listed for Benin by Ullenbruch, Grell & Böhme (2010), but this was an error of omission (Trape 2013).
Distribution:
Benin.
