Some older records of intestinalis may represent to nigrotaeniatus (Fukuyama, Vogel, Matsui, Eto, Munir, Hossman, Hamidy & Nishikawa 2020).
Formerly placed in a separate genus, Maticora, along with bivirgatus.
Presence in Sulawesi needs confirmation, since only a few voucher specimens are available from the island (De Lang & Vogel 2005).
