1958 Anolis eewi Roze
Norops eewi Nicholson, Crother, Guyer & Savage 2012

Remarks: Regarded as a synonym of planiceps by Vanzolini & Williams (1970), revalidated by Gorzula & Señaris (1999), but synonymized again with planiceps by Myers & Donelly (2008) and D'Angiolella, Gamble, Avila-Pires, Colli, Noonan & Vitt (2011). Although they did not include eewi in their Venezuelan checklist, Rivas, Molina, Ugueto, Barros, Barrio-Amorós & Kok (2012) suspected it to be a valid species, pending further studies. Nicholson, Crother, Guyer & Savage (2012) listed eewi as a valid species, but the same authors did not mention the species in a subsequent work (Nicholson, Crother, Guyer & Savage 2018), nor was it mentioned by Poe, Nieto-Montes de Oca, Torres-Carvajal, Queiroz, Velasco, Truett, Gray, Ryan, Köhler, Ayala-Varela & Latella (2017). It is provisionally retained as a valid species herein.
Distribution: Venezuela.

-

-

1864 Anolis gibbiceps Cope
Norops gibbiceps Savage & Guyer 1989

Remarks: Status uncertain. Although the type locality has often been cited as "Caracas" (Venezuela), the species is of Caribbean (original catalogue entry says Jamaica) or Central American origin, hence reports from Venezuela (e.g., Donoso-Barros 1968; Peters & Donoso-Barros 1970; Pefaur 1992; La Marca 1997) are erroneous (Rivas, Molina, Ugueto, Barros, Barrio-Amoros & Kok 2012). Consequently, reports from Guyana (e.g., Parker 1935; Peters & Donoso-Barros 1970; Hoogmoed 1973) are also considered erroneous. Not mentioned by Poe, Nieto-Montes de Oca, Torres-Carvajal, Queiroz, Velasco, Truett, Gray, Ryan, Köhler, Ayala-Varela & Latella (2017).

Norops adleri Nicholson, Crother, Guyer & Savage 2012

Remarks: The nominal species adleri was suggested to be synonymous with liogaster by Lieb (1981) in his unpublished Ph.D. dissertation, and therefore not considered valid by Savage & Guyer (1989), however, it was not included in the synonymy of liogaster by Munoz-Alonso & Flores-Villela (1990), who considered this synonymization to be premature. More recently, Nieto-Montes de Oca, Poe, Scarpetta, Gray & Lieb (2013) provided supporting evidence for the synonymization. Echegoyen (2009) listed liogaster from Jalisco, however, Köhler, Trejo-Pérez, Petersen & Méndez de la Cruz (2014) considered its distribution restricted to Guerrero in their review of this and related anole species. Cruz-Sáenz, Guerrero, Lazcano & Télles-López (2009) did not list liogaster for Jalisco either.
