Contents:
7 species, of which 3 (42.9%) is endemic.
Endemism: 0% 100%
Remarks:
Previously included in
Trionyx (e.g., Wermuth & Mertens 1977). Fritz, Gong, Auer, Kuchling, Schneeweiss & Hundsdörfer (2010) found seven distinct genetic lineages within Pelodiscus, but the taxonomic and nomenclatural status of these is still unresolved, apart from axenaria, maackii, parviformis, and sinensis. The validity of these four species was supported by Stuckas & Fritz (2011).
